What We Need:
To facilitate and accelerate the aggressive growth that RCA is experiencing we are seeking a Family Therapist that will assist patients and their families through the supervision and coordination of addiction treatment. Position responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating family treatment.

What You’ll Do:
• Apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of professional services to individuals, couples and families.
• Collect information about clients, using techniques such as testing, interviewing, discussion and observation.
• Assess clients for substance abuse, dependence and other addictive behaviors.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify clients’ level of honesty and self-motivation.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish rapport with clients, families, caregivers, professional providers, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify clients’ obstacles to utilizing resources outside the facility.
• Demonstrate the ability to assess for potential abuse and neglect.
• Assess clients for relevant cultural and spiritual issues and incorporate these findings into the treatment plan.
• Conduct individual and family counseling sessions.
• Documents clients’ responses to sessions in the clients’ records.
• Participate in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of treatment addressing family relationship issues in conjunction with the other members of the treatment team within one week of admission; effectively incorporate information from assessments into treatment goals and interventions.
• Participate in the development of weekly treatment plan updates in conjunction with the other members of the treatment team.
• Encourage client and family members to develop and use skills and strategies to confront their issues in a constructive manner.
• Demonstrate the ability to therapeutically confront clients and their family members as indicated.
• Communicate with outside therapists and other appropriate parties as indicated within the bounds of confidentiality.
• Demonstrate awareness of each client’s barriers to learning and tailor educational activities to remove those barriers.
• Assess need for and provide education regarding the clients’ chemical dependency and psychological disorders.
• Conduct group and individual educational activities.
• Reevaluate clients’ clinical and educational needs throughout their stay.
• Educate clients and their families regarding community resources.
• Document discharge plans, including community referrals and follow-up appointments with therapists and other necessary professionals.
• Individualize discharge plans according to the clients’ ability to utilize resources.
• Complete documentation in the client’s record in a thorough, timely, legible and accurate manner.
• Report incidents of suspected/known abuse/neglect, using prescribed forms and protocols from the relevant community, state, and federal agencies.
• Comply with the mandatory HIPPA and reporting laws, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need:
• Master’s degree in a clinical/mental health field with extensive knowledge and experience serving adults and their families.
• LPC, LCSW-C or LMFT preferred. LCADC preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.
• Able to maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
• Excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.
• Knowledge of case management for dual diagnosis patients.
