Since 1985 Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. (BCCS) has been a trusted provider of outstanding substance abuse and behavioral health treatment. We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges.
What You'll Do with Us as an Outreach Worker:
Provide health education and risk reduction activities to persons at risk for HIV and HCV.
The Outreach Worker is part of a team who engages in on-site outreach programming at the Milford site as well as street-based outreach programming. BCCS Outreach programs offer an array of support and resources, including anonymous needle exchange services, free HIV and HCV testing and counseling, drug sample testing, pregnancy testing, overdose prevention counseling, information related to reducing risk, wound care education and assistance, referrals to drug treatment, health care, and social services, and access to basic needs such as clothing, showers, and laundry services.
Act as a liaison between the clients and services, assisting the clients with treatment entry, navigating the steps necessary to successfully link clients to helping professionals.
Responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate outreach services and for maintaining high professional standards.
Outreach Workers are often our client’s first impression of BCCS. Therefore, Outreach Workers are expected to maintain professional standards. This position is with our Syringe Services Program that services Kent and Sussex County.
This position is primarily a community-based position, so it requires in home and community visits. Work will be performed outside of an office setting on a regular and consistent basis.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
HS diploma or GED OR 5 years of verified work experience is Required
REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with 2 points or less
REQUIRED: Must be a Peer.
BCCS employs a diverse workforce, and we especially encourage applications from those who are in recovery. This position requires that the candidate chosen for it is a peer. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol.
REQUIRED: Minimum of 2 year's in recovery
PREFERRED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.
Pay:
Starting at $16/hour, commensurate based on experience and education!
